Privacy policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and who sees it.
This policy explains how Whitestone Global (202403262273 (003654423-V)), the operator of RentRooms.com, collects and uses your personal data, in line with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 of Malaysia.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, mobile number, nationality and password.
- Addresses you save to your account, including the one you mark as your default.
- Viewing requests: the listing, the time you picked, your move-in date and any note you write to the agent.
- Rooms you save to your shortlist.
- For agents: your agency, REN or REA number, the areas you cover, your WhatsApp number and the listings you publish.
- Technical data such as pages visited and device type, collected through cookies and Google Analytics.
How we use it
- To run your account and show you your viewings and saved rooms.
- To send your viewing request to the agent of the listing and keep both of you updated by email.
- To check agents before they receive a verified badge.
- To send our newsletter, only if you subscribed. You can unsubscribe from any issue.
- To keep the platform secure and understand how it is used.
What we share, and with whom
When you request a viewing, the agent of that listing receives your name and mobile number. Your default address and the agent's WhatsApp number are shared only once the agent accepts your request. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with anyone else except service providers who host and operate the platform for us, or where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your account is open, and for up to two years after you close it where we need it to resolve disputes or meet legal duties.
Your rights
You can see and correct most of your details on your profile page. You may also ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to close your account and delete it.
